Fit for the Future

Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Czechia

Movement, Mindfulness, and Connection

In May 2025, the peaceful mountain town of Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Czechia, became the vibrant meeting point for young people from Hungary, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia, Czechia, Romania, and Serbia — all brought together by one common goal: to explore and improve their well-being.

The youth exchange, titled Fit for the Future, was built around the idea that mental and physical health are deeply connected. Throughout the program, participants took part in activities designed to promote not just physical movement, but also emotional awareness, cultural understanding, and social connection.

From breathing exercises to creative workshops, from theatre-based activities to mindfulness sessions, every part of the journey offered space for reflection, fun, and self-growth.

Learning Through Movement and Experience

Staying active was a big part of the exchange — not just to keep bodies moving, but as a fun and powerful way to feel better, connect with others, and enjoy the moment. From friendly games of football, volleyball, and badminton to energizers and team challenges, there was always something happening to get everyone up and laughing. These weren’t just games — they were moments of bonding, release, and pure good vibes.

Participants also embraced the outdoors, heading out on hikes through the stunning natural landscape around Rokytnice nad Jizerou. Some chose an easier route to take things slow, while others took on a more challenging trail leading high into the mountains. The most adventurous reached the Czech–Polish border.

It wasn’t just about reaching the top — it was about the time spent in nature, breathing fresh air, and realising how being outside helps clear the mind and lift the spirit. Along the way, they learned how to care for themselves during outdoor activities, making the connection between physical movement and mental well-being feel more real than ever.

Whether running on the field, playing under the sun, or walking among the trees, every step became a way to recharge, reflect, and reconnect — with themselves, with each other, and with nature.

Cultural Nights and Shared Stories

One of the highlights was the series of cultural nights, where each country shared their traditions, music, dances, games, and food. These evenings created a warm and joyful atmosphere, encouraging curiosity and respect among participants as they experienced different cultures firsthand.

Through traditional dances, songs, games, and shared meals, everyone had the chance to connect beyond language and background. These moments fostered new friendships and a lasting sense of unity, making the cultural nights some of the most memorable experiences of the exchange.

A Lasting Impact

More than just a youth exchange, Fit for the Future became a space where young people learned not only about health and well-being, but also about themselves and others. Friendships were formed, comfort zones were expanded, and many left with new tools to care for their minds and bodies.
